Elba has over 100 beaches, each with a different characteristic. Listed of below are a few of those nearest to Marina di Campo. (1) Marina di Campo beach :  Sea bed and beach : sandy Length : 1850 m. Average width : 25 m. Faces :SouthEast. Shelterd: from westerlly and easterly winds. Amenities: bathing establishments, boat hire, sailing school, bar, restaurants. Characteristic: It is the largest beach on Elba that is entirely of white granite sand, very popular with tourists: in the low season when are less tourists one can better admire it's beauty. (2) Galenzana beach :  Can be reached on foot from the centre of Marina di Campo, taking a path ( pathway Cai 39) which is 900 mt long ans starts from the Piazzetta Milano (steps) , and following the first path through the old part of Marina di Campo. Sea bed and beach: sandy Length: 430 m Average width: 5 m Face : East Sheltered : from all winds. Characteristic: Il Bagnolo, a sandbank of pebbles which is visible at low tide, 200 mt long and up to 120 mt wide, Tamerisk trees that reach down to the sea. (3) Colle Palombaia beach :  On leaving Marina di Campo, follow the main road towards San Piero and Seccheto. At the turn off for San Piero walk ion the left side for a few metres then take the granite steps on the right that lead to the beach. Sea bed and beach : pebbles Length: 300 mt Average width : 30 mt Faces : South Sheltered . from the North and East winds. Characteristics: very hot and sunny beach, ideal in the low season and on fine winter days. 4) Cavoli beach:  From Marina di Campo take the road to the west for 4 km, following the signpost for Cavoli. There is a car park at the beach, but from June to Septmeber it si very difficult to find a space there. Alternatively drive another 300 mt then park and reach the beach on foot down the steps. Sea bed and beach: sandy Length: 30 mt Average width: 20 mt Exposure: South Sheltered: from North and east winds. Amenities: bathing establishments, boat hire, bar , restaurants, shop, newsagents. Characteristics: course grained withe granite sand, crystal clear water, very hot and sunny beach, ideal in the low season and winter, very crowded in the summer. (5) Seccheto beach:  From the village of Seccheto two pathways take you the 30 mt to the beach. From Seccheto follo the road signposted Fetovaia for about 2 km where you will find a car park near the beach.Sae bed and beach: sandy Length: 100 m Average width: 20 m Faces : South Sheltered: from northerly and easterly winds. Amenities: bar and beach umbrella rental. Characteristics: crystal clear water, large grained granite sand. (6) Le Piscine beach: After leaving the village of Seccheto and taking the road to Fetovaia, after about 800 mt on the left hand side there is a path leading down to the granite rocks called the Piscine. Sea bed and beach: smooth granite rocks Faces: South Sheltered: from the north easterly and north westerly winds. Characterisitics: ancient granite mining left hollows that are like small swimming polls of very warm water, the sea here is very interesting and it is popular with naturists. (7) Fetovaia beach :  Sea bed and beach: sandy Length: 300 mt Average width: 10 mt Faces : South east Sheltered : from westerly and north easterly winds. Amenities: bathing establishments, boat hire, bar, restaurants. Characteristics: a beautiful beach with white fine granite sand, ideal in the low season, very creowded in July and August. (8) Le Tombe beach :  From the turn off to Fetovaia follow the western road in the direction of Pomonte for 1,3 km, from here follow a pathway for about 700 mt, which leads to the sea, go left and after a few meters you arrive at the beach. Sea bed and beach: pebbles and sand Length: 300 mt Average width: 10 mt Faces :south east Sheltered: from northerly and easterly winds. Characteristics: series of small beaches of blank sand, very hot, ideal in the low season and fine days in winter. (9) Fonza beach :  From MArina di Campo follow the road for Lacona and after 1,8 km turn right ( signpost for Acquario dell'Elba). after 150 mt keep to the right and follow the main road ( very uneven) for 2400mt . take the path down to the right and after 1000 mt you will reach the beach. ( no car park). The best way to reach this beach is actually by mountain bike. Sea bed and beach: sandy and pebbles Length: 100 mt Average width: 10 mt Faces : South west Sheltered : from north and easterly winds. Characteristics: sandy sea bed and crystal clear water. (10) Procchio beach :  Diredtly in fron of the village. Sae bed and beach: sandy Length: 1450mt Average width: 20 mt Faces: North west Sheltered: from north easterly and western winds. Characteristics: white sandy beach which is the largest on the northern coast. |
